Testimonial

This person has left the following thank you note:

First, I want to say that I was starting to give up and throw in the towel. My faith began to dissipate, I have gone through so much from January to now.I have reached out to family, friends and community services for help with paying my bills. I was and still am going to work day in and day out and feeling like there was no help in sight started to become very stressful and scary. That is until I received an email stating my application was funded. God seems to have my back at all times, and the fact that I doubted him and he proved to me that there are good people that want to help. The good people in this case are the funders from Modest Needs. I am so grateful and thankful to the funders who decided to have my back and fund my request. Your blessing will help me out to the point that I can actually go to the rental office and pay off the outstanding balance that is owed. I appreciate you and I pray that one day i will have the opportunity to pay it forward to someone on Modest Needs. From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you for all of your help and your efforts to get my request funded Sincerely, Alex

I'm a Social Worker, & After Losing Hours to the Pandemic, I Need Help Keeping My Home Please!

My Story:

I'm a single woman, and I work as a social worker for my city. I provide counseling services to inner city youth through the local school system. I really love my job and love the privilege of working with students who just need someone in their lives to help them make a difference. A big part of my job, and one that I really enjoy, is teaching children new coping skills through art and expressive writing.

I've always made enough through my job to live pretty comfortably, but due to the pandemic, my hours have been wildly inconsistent. With some schools being closed and others being open, it's been hard to get on a consistent schedule. On top of that, the holiday breaks from November through January have also cut into my paycheck pretty significantly. As a result, I'm past due on my rent and am incurring too many late fees to catch up on my own in time to avoid being evicted.

I'm really close to being evicted, so I'm asking for help with catching up on my overdue rent. My paychecks should be returning to a normal level now that the holidays are over and also the schools are open a bit more consistently. Getting this help would allow me to keep my home, but it would also allow me to continue to serve the children in my community who need me right now. I would be extremely grateful for this help because I can keep the home that I've been living in for a while now, but more importantly, I can continue to serve my community. Thank you for allowing me to continue to do what I love, and I promise to pay this generosity forward everyday by working hard for the children who need me.
