This person has left the following thank you note:
Thank you all so very much for your generous donations and support of my daughter and me in our time of desperate need. Your beautiful giving spirit has pulled us from the brink of financial disaster. We honestly would have had nowhere to turn had we been evicted from our apartment. We have no family whatsoever, but have seen through the Modest Needs Foundation that there are people out there who are willing to help if we simply reach out and ask. We can now focus on moving forward without the stress and sleepless nights of worrying about where we would live. Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts. Bless you all!
I'm a Single Mom of Four. I Was Laid Off due to COVID & We're Going to Lose Our Home.
I'm a single mother with four wonderful children. Three of them are grown, and only my 14-year-old daughter lives at home with me now. She's an incredibly kind and thoughtful girl, and I'm extremely thankful for her every single day. She's really into art, music, and crafts like embroidery and sewing. In our spare time, we love to spend time playing with our 3-year-old lab mix named Penny, who is like another child to me and who is my daughter's prized possession.
I finally returned to work a few weeks ago at a medical practice, and I'm incredibly relieved and thankful to be back at work. I was unemployed for a while, and I was doing a good job of pulling myself out of that financial hole; however, I had a minor car accident in November and the cost of those repairs set me back to the point of not being able to pay rent. Basically, it turned a precarious financial position into an impossible one. The landlords are extremely strict and filed for eviction on the 15th of November, and I now have until January 4th to come up with the back rent plus all of the court and late fees. Even though I'm back to work, this situation is really threatening to put us completely underwater, so I'm asking for help with our rent.
We're at a fork in the road, and either we're going to make it through this and be able to keep our home, or we're going to be evicted. This help would make sure that the latter doesn't happen. It would see us through an incredibly difficult period in our lives, and it would get us back to a point of self-sufficiency. I'm asking for this help mainly for the sake of my daughter. She has sacrificed so much this year and has endured stress a 14-year-old should never have to see, and I would love for her to see there are good people in the world to lean on in times of trouble. Thank you all for being those good people, and I promise we will never forget this generous support.
