After Being Furloughed, My Chronic Lung Condition Has Kept Me Out of Work. Please Help Me with Rent!
I am a young lady who lives alone with my dog, and I am divorced. I consider myself an incredibly fun and loving person, and in my free time, I love to spend time with my dog and to bake. Aside from being fun and loving, I am an intensely hard worker and strive to be the best at everything that I do. I work in sales at a clothing store and am a leader at my job. Recently, my store furloughed all of its employees until further notice. I have worked incredibly hard for everything that I have, but being furloughed and my recent diagnoses with a chronic lung disease has threatened my livelihood and my life.
Shortly before the pandemic began, I was in the hospital undergoing a biopsy on my lungs, when it was revealed to me that I have a chronic lung disease. This has made the prospect of catching Covid-19 incredibly dangerous for me, so after being furloughed, I have still not been able to find a job anywhere safe enough to work.
I never received unemployment, even after being furloughed, and my bills have piled up. Now they are a monstrosity that keeps me up at night, and I feel powerless to do anything about them because of my chronic lung condition. Any day now, I am waiting to get a call from my landlord telling me that the sheriff is on his way to come and evict me. I am living in a constant state of fear over the fact that I may soon be homeless.
I have no option but to humbly ask for help with paying my rent now. It would keep a roof over my head while I continue to search for safe work, or until my company calls us back from our furlough. I have prayed and prayed for assistance, or at least hope, and now I feel as if my prayers have been answered. Thank you for the compassion you have shown me and for the time you have taken to read my story.
