Wow. I am currently speechless at the amount of generosity we have received in this time of need. I was going into this as a 'shot in the dark' but you don't know if you don't ask. Asking for help, especially financial help, is foreign to us as we are always known to help others before we help ourselves. Just as we have always tried to help others in their time of need, you all have given us a gift that we simply cannot repay right now. We may not be able to repay you, but we can plan on paying it forward in the future once we get over this difficult speed bump. Coronavirus: Disabled Veteran Needs Help with Mortgage
My Story:
I am a wife of a retired Army Paratrooper. I am a life long performer specializing in aerial arts (circus). My husband now works for the power company in aviation. We love to travel and spend time with our two dogs.
My husband is a disabled retired Veteran that was injured on active duty jumping out of an airplane as a paratrooper. He has needed a special brace to walk but his condition has worsened and will need the leg amputated. Because of Covid-19 every job and contract I had lined up has been canceled leaving me without any work. My husband still works but will need to take at least two months off after the amputation. Our house currently is not accessible for a wheel chair and we will need our bedroom and bathroom modified so he is able to use them properly after his surgery. We don't have a choice to make these modifications and now with half the income, we are having difficulty finding the funds for this unexpected cost. We need Modest Needs' help to pay for our mortgage for this month.
This funding will bring our household a little breath to ease us in to this very difficult time. I am so worried about the health of my husband. Your help will make such an impact on our family as the VA says we are not qualified for their help. We are reaching out to people like you because we know how important it is to help others when we were in a better place.
