This person has left the following thank you note:
I want to thank you all so much. You will never know how much your help means to me and my family. Because of your generosity, my daughter and I can have peace of mind, knowing that we dont have to stress over how we were going to pay this bill. As a result of health issues, I have had to take a significant of leave from my job without pay, but with your generosity, this will help me to get, and stay, back on track. Once again I am very grateful for you and I wish nothing but blessings for you and your own families. Thank You
I Was Assaulted at Work & Lost Some Pay. I'm Behind On Rent & My Landlord's Filing for Eviction.
I am a disabled Air Force Veteran currently employed by the federal government. I live with my daughter, and right now, I'm the only one working. My daughter is currently looking for employment and she has applied to UTSA engineering program, but for now, we rely on what I make working for the government to pay our bills.
This is kind of difficult for me to talk about because of what's happening in my life right now, I can't get into a lot of details. Here's the most I can say. I've never needed help to pay a bill before. I'm very responsible and very disciplined, and I know how to budget my money. But, last year, I was sexually assaulted in my workplace. The sexual assault triggered my PTSD, which it made it very difficult for me just to go to work. As a result, I missed several weeks of paid employment. Now, for the first time ever, I'm behind on rent, and our landlord is threatening to evict us if we're not caught up by the end of the month.
It's bad enough to deal with the aftermath of sexual assault. It's even worse when you're also coping with the thought of becoming homeless and not having anyone who will help you. I'm getting the help I need to get past my PTSD now, but I still need help to catch up with rent. If you'll please help with rent, I can finally put this experience behind me, get on with my life, and do what I need to do to make sure the person who assaulted me can never assault anyone ever again. Thank you.
