Thank you so much for your assistance. I just found out today that my request has been funded. It means so much to me that people whom I have never met have given of themselves to help a stranger in need. This is truly a blessing and at this time of year, it restores my faith in humanity to know that there are people who are willing to give. Thank you again for your support.
Senior Needs Rent Help After Lay Off
I am a 62 year old senior citizen who lives alone. I have no family in this city either, my son lives in another are and has a family of his own to support. I have to work full time to support myself.
I lost my full-time job in February 2019 and drew unemployment until July. I was working part-time as a cashier at Walgreens, making $10.00 per hour and I still have this job. My scheduled work hours vary usually between 20 and 30 hours per week. I was making ends meet with my unemployment checks plus my part time job but when unemployment ran out I started to fall behind. I got another part-time job with Amazon now so I can start to regain my financial standing. I was able to pay my rent for the month of October, but I owe late fees and now owe Novembers rent. I am asking Modest Needs for help to pay my rent.
I fear that if I do not receive help I will only get further and further behind and owe more and more money and be evicted. Your help will bring my household current with my bills. I will be able to breathe easier knowing I will still have a roof over my head. Being a single senior citizen, living on an extremely limited income, is not something I thought I would ever have to worry about, but the situation is real. I constantly worry if I will be homeless one day. Your help would make a long-lasting impact on me and I would be more than happy to pay it forward as soon as I am able.
