ASD Kids Need ABA Therapy for Early Intervention

My Story:

I am married mother of two toddlers ASD. My husband is a mechanic that works full time, and often works over time to keep us afloat financially. I also work full time as 8th grade public school English Teacher. My son is 4, he is energetic and a professor at heart - thinks he knows all. My daughter is 3, is also energetic but marches to the beat of her own drum sometimes.

For the last 2 years I was a Drama teacher at a different school, and over the summer I was laid off. It took me the whole summer to find a new position and school. In the midst of that we have been trying to get therapy covered through our insurance since January, it has been extremely difficult and we still do not have it. With our children's additional medical issues, we rack up a lot of expenses. At the moment, I do not have the exact figure for ABA service. The agency can only tell me that if insurance does finalize, we have a 30% copay. Needless to say, we need help and with Modest Needs assistance it would be great for getting the kids actually started.

I have been told countless times that early intervention is key. It is killing me that we do not have the funds to start out children with these necessary therapies. I find there is not lot of services let alone affordable ways to acquire services for kids with ASD and related issues. My fear is that due a flaw in the healthcare system, my kids will not get the help they need. Hopefully with your help, we can be able to re-budget, and put aside funds for ABA therapy. Your assistance would have a huge impact on our lives.
