My Son Has Autism. He's FINALLY Getting the Help He Needs, But We're About to Lose Our Home.

My Story:

I am a single mom with one 9-year-old son. He is an energetic and creative child, who loves playing video games, making youtube videos, being with his friends and family, building things like an engineer.

My son has Autism Spectrum Disorder, and he recently began receiving ABA applied behavior analysis therapy treatments. They have helped him TREMENDOUSLY and I can't believe the progress he's made since he started this treatment.

To support my son and pay our monthly bills, I work full time as a credit manager. In my job, I've seen lots of people who've made terrible financial mistakes, so I've always been careful to stick to a strict monthly budget. That said, we tend to live paycheck-to-paycheck and I just cannot save up for emergencies no matter how much I would like to. And right now, I'm in a huge bind because of my son's therapy. My insurance will cover most of my son's therapy, but I have a really high deductible, and I have to pay out of pocket for his therapy and other medical costs until we meet that deductible. We've now met that deductible, but in the process, I've gotten a month behind on my mortgage, and if I'm not caught up by the end of this month, they're going to begin foreclosure proceedings on my home. Because I'm a credit manager, I know what will happen if I DON'T get caught up with this bill. First, there'll be all kinds of new charges related to the foreclosure added to my mortgage. When I can't pay those, they'll take the house, and I'll lose my lifetime investment.

Now that I know what kind of therapy my son needs, I've been able to adjust my budget to account for it, and I believe we're going to be able to work with his therapist to set up a regular payment plan until I meet my deductible next year so I won't have to pay such a large lump sum out of pocket. So everything will be OK if I can JUST get the help I need to catch up my mortgage. I'm so glad I found Modest Needs. I believe in what ya'll are doing and I promise I'll pay it forward here and everywhere else I can if I can just get help this one time. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our home.
