This person has left the following thank you note:

This is a time in the world where every where you look, there seems to be more news regarding the seemingly loss of genuine regards for others. It seems like so many people have no love and no respect for one another. When these notions are proven not to be completely true and you come to realize that there ARE people that still love and care for one another, and will go out of there way to prove it! My family has a renewed faith in people because of you, and we truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We realize that this is a blessing and we will not take your kindness and generosity for granted. Our Family is grateful that you heard our hearts and responded to our needs. We promise that one day will we be able to pass on the blessing to another family in need. Thank you from the Hill Family!

Our Landlord Sold Our Home of 8 Years & Threw Us Out. The Sudden Move Put Us Behind on Rent. Help!

My Story:

I am a single mother of three wonderful boys. My oldest son would like to be a computer tech. He is working but hopefully will be able to go to school in the future. My middle son plays instruments and composes music. He will be working and attending Metro in the fall for music comp. My youngest son is heading to the eighth grade! He is excited to try out for the basketball team. My mother is still in good health at 80! She's lived with me and my boys for about 14 years, so we have a pretty large household, but together, we manage to make ends meet most of the time.

We've lived in the same rental home for the past eight years. My boys have practically grown up here, and I'd planned to stay here more or less forever. But in January of this year, we were given a notice that the owner was selling the house we were renting and that we had 30 days to find a new place to live or we'd be put on the street. We had a little savings, but we weren't prepared for that move, and it took all we had and then some to pay the first, last, and security deposit on a new home.

After the move, we were doing okay. The rent on the new place was a little more than we were used to, but we were making it. And then, over two weeks, both of my boys lost their jobs. They scrambled & were both back to work within a month at better jobs than they had before, but we ended up a month behind on rent, and we've stayed behind since then. For all but the first few months, the rent on our new place has included late fees that we really can't afford, but we've paid them, but our landlord has told us that we can't stay a month behind and that if we can't catch up this month, we'll be evicted.

I really don't know what I'm going to do. We don't have the money to make rent twice in once month, and nobody I know has the money to loan to us. I found Modest Needs and figured it couldn't hurt to ask, so could you please help us catch up on our rent. It'll help us get back to normal after one of the hardest years of my life and make sure that me, my boys, and my elderly mom don't end up on the street after all this hard work. Thank you for reading and have a blessed day.
