This person has left the following thank you note:
It is difficult to express in words how much of a relief this financial assistance is especially at this exact moment in my life. It is not just money, it is opportunity, it is stress-relief, it is a little bit of freedom from anxiety, worry, and constant action to try to pay this apartment bill and others. I've actually grown up to be a young adult who is typically very self-sufficient and independent and I've truly earned what I have to show for it now. That being said, it isn't easy to ask for help even though I know cooperation and community and working together is the most effective way to solve problems. I am so glad and grateful that I have reached out and asked for help and that you have reached back out to me. What this funding means to me specifically right now, is that I am one incredible step closer to the stable housing that I'm moving to now and plan to be in for no particular amount of time, but certainly for as long as it takes to grow to afford myself any stable environment when I choose to move again. Also, two months ago, I ended a controlling, abusive relationship I am now learning to have had forms of domestic violence and this has been a large source of my depression and anxiety. I can put myself first now. I can put my finances, my emotions, my physical and mental health first now and this is a very encouraging push towards that. I just cannot thank you enough for the kindness it takes to give. I will be earning the opportunity afforded to me by Modest Needs donors. And in my lifetime, I will be giving back to those I know first hand need the education and assistance. I'll be doing that as my life's work, and from what I know about the kinds of people who take the time to give to others going through a difficult time like mine, I hope and I think that you'll be glad to know I'm dedicated to doing the same. Thank you.
Battling Depression, Greatly Need Rent Help
I am a full time student at my local University. I love to read, write, study business and psychology, exercise, dance, and study nutrition and eat healthy. After working through homelessness from 17-20, and fluctuating homelessness for periods of time afterward, I've been able to complete 2 years and one semester of school and am very proud and uplifted by this fact. I have just recently started the most amazing jobs, I work for an uncle of mine as a Civilian Process Server and now as the Marketing Lead for his new car lot business. I am also struggling through periodic depressive states that date back to when my youth homelessness and significant family problems began. I talk to a counselor and I'm doing everything I can currently including starting antidepressants last week.
I unfortunately got into three car accidents last year all surrounding very stressful events happening in my family. I've had to pay three $500 deductibles and a one time, and an unusually high insurance payment of $756 last month. I have also been battling intense stress and anxiety and had an extremely difficult time finding steady work that was enough to pay my bills. I am asking for help with paying my rent for the month of February.
This would help with so much more than just my financial deficit. For the first time this year I've experienced the sharp painful anxiety and crushing instability and feeling of helplessness that is financial hardship. This help would help to relieve the state of crisis I feel. I've had ups and downs and progress is not linear but Modest Needs' Grant will help me get back on track. Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
