This person has left the following thank you note:
Thank you so much for your generosity. We have been experiencing one financial crisis after another, it seems, so to not have to worry about paying for this repair (and consequently not having to worry about whether I will have transportation for work) was a huge relief. Having this bill paid has made it possible for us to pay for another smaller repair that has come up since I submitted our application without putting as much stress on our finances. We are also struggling on our mortgage, but with the assistance from Modest Needs, we have been able to continue putting my wife's paycheck towards the mortgage and not diverting it towards other necessities. You have helped put my mind at ease and help me relax some in the midst of the other stresses we have been facing. Thank you again! Brooks
Getting Back on Our Feet: Help Family With Car Repair
I am a married father of two children, a fifteen year old son and ten year old daughter. My son loves to develop his talents running cross-country, track and field, playing in his school's marching band, playing in a couple youth worship teams at the churches he attends, and getting straight A's (he wants to study theoretical physics in college). My daughter is a little more reserved but just as creative. She enjoys reading, drawing, and creating worlds online on Roblox. My wife has taught herself how to make soaps and currently works at a local restaurant and is a substitute teacher during the school year. I work full-time for a frozen food delivery service, currently about 65 -70 hours/week. We attend a couple local churches and believe that prayer and faith are essential ingredients to weathering storms like we have been going through.
We have had several short-term hardships within the last year. In November 2017, my wife was hospitalized for two weeks. She was not able to work during this time and during the next few weeks while she recovered at home. At the time, her paychecks were paying the mortgage. We had to use the little money we had saved up and budget some from my check to pay the mortgage in November and December. When substitute teaching jobs slowed down, she had to take a seasonal job at a local home improvement store, which paid less per hour and gave her fewer hours than teaching. This caused us to be slower in being able to pay the mortgage. Now that she has found part time work and school will be starting back in a few weeks we will be okay. We need Modest Needs help with our repair we desperately need to stay afloat.
This funding will give us a boost in getting back to being financially stable and give us more peace of mind that we won't be perpetually threatened with foreclosure. Now that my wife is working again, I can set aside the little I have left over from my checks towards an emergency fund. Without help from Modest Needs, these funds I set aside will have to go towards paying on the past due bills. I am already working 65 to 70 hours per week and am stretched about as thin as I can get. Taking on another job to try to catch up from our delinquency isn't an option. This assistance will also help my wife and I both focus on doing the best we can at work rather than being this repair.
As of 2018-09-21, this application has been fully funded!
