I've Recovered From My Surgery, But I'm Struggling To Catch Up On My Mortgage.
My Story:
I'm a registered nurse and I live alone, other than my adorable little 3-year-old dog. I love being a nurse and being able to make a difference in people's lives every day. I enjoy spending time with my family when I can, especially my two little nephews, who are the cutest little boys in the world! I like to say, 'Aunt life is the best life'! I enjoy traveling when I'm able to, and have been on a few mission trips, and volunteer nursing trips.
I have a fibromyalgia and recently was forced to change from full-time hours in the hospital, to part-time hours due to constantly being on my feet. I have been living paycheck to paycheck since going part-time at the hospital, but my health was suffering so it was a necessary change. This past fall I had to have back surgery and had to go on short-term disability for 10 weeks and ever since I have been struggling to make ends meet. Then at the beginning of March I ended up with another medical issue and had to have an outpatient surgery. I missed two more weeks of work that went totally unpaid because I used all my paid time off hours for my previous surgery. The medical bills are piling up, and some of my regular bills are overdue. I try to be an independent woman who handles her own problems, so this is difficult for me, but I am at a point I don't know what else to do. I need Modest Needs to help me bring my mortgage current.
If I am blessed to receive a grant, these funds will help me be able to get back on track and avoid missing another mortgage payment. I will be able to catch up and stay current on my mortgage and other utilities. Just applying for this has been a growing experience, and I am learning that accepting help doesn't make me weak, it just makes me human. I am so grateful for your kindness! Once I am caught up and am financially able I would be so happy to be able to pay this forward and help out another family.
