Military Family Faces Homelessness After Custody Battle Turned Their Life Upside Down
My Story:
I am an Army Vet who served fourteen years and I am currently serving in the reserves. I have two children ages nine and eleven. I work for the state Department of Transportation. My Fiancé works in a small accounting firm. We have a black lab who our whole family loves dearly. Our lab also doubles as a registered emotional support animal for myself. We like to go hiking and fishing. We enjoy playing games together and just spending time together. I have been in treatment for my PTSD and other injuries I sustained while overseas on deployment. My kids and My soon to be wife are very involved with my treatment.
In February, my children's mother dropped the kids off they now live with us 100% of the time. My children are starting to adapt and get used to everyday life in a much healthier environment. I legally had to keep paying the child support even though my ex was no longer the primary parent and had zero contact with them. My fiancée and I had to dig up the money to pay for a lawyer to help us get everything cleared up. We worked out a payment arrangement for our May rent to allow us to pay our lawyer and all court costs. We must pay the payment arrangement off in full no later than Aug 15th. This has put us in danger of losing our home.
If we can get assistance on this rent payment we will be able to go back to life as normal. we haven't seen normal life since February of this year. This help will allow us to be back on track and will be able to start working with my kids on the emotional issues they are suffering from this life changing event of their mother just up and leaving them. We need to be able to focus on the kids 100%. I really need to be able to provide them a stable life with zero fear of them losing their home.
