Transitioning Veteran with Combat Related PTSD Needs Rent Help
My Story:
I am a USMC veteran who separated from active duty military service in July 2016. I suffer from combat related PTSD and have begun to receive a small amount of disability compensation through the VA. I am newly married and am also a father of one 3-year-old son from my previous marriage. My new wife and I are expecting a baby. She works on a part-time basis, and I am going to school using my GI Bill benefits.
I have not been able to find civilian employment yet, and have relied primarily on my educational benefits from the VA to pay for our rent each month. Due to the gap in semesters, I did not receive any housing coverage last month, causing us to fall behind on our rent payment.
I am asking for Modest Needs to help us with our rent. I am worried that my pregnant wife and I will become homeless if we cannot find assistance to bring our rent back on schedule.
Your help will ensure that we are not evicted from our home and will give us stability during this phase of transition to civilian life. I am in the process of seeking a part-time job that I can mange around school to prevent this situation from occurring again. We are very thankful for your help.
