URGENT: Single Worker Needs Help Purchasing Medical Supplies after Cancer Surgery and Treatments
My Story:
I am single and live alone. I work as support personnel for the local Department of Social Services. I used to work at the local homeless shelter part-time, but left after I was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. I have since been through chemo and radiation treatments, and underwent major surgery earlier this year. I am currently living with two ostomies, but am happy to say I am recovering and on the remission road.
My job provides me with enough income to afford my bills, but not enough to save money. My employer recently changed insurance company, so I have a new deductible I need to pay upfront on all my medical expenses. It is difficult to stay afloat with an illness, and the added medical costs have hit me hard. I have tried talking to the insurance company to see if there were a way to make a payment arrangement, but they stated they could not do that.
I need Modest Needs to help me pay for my ostomy supplies this month. The medical supplies are not covered due to the deductible, and must be paid out of pocket. The trouble is, I cannot afford this expense right now, and I cannot leave the house without my ostomy supplies. I am low on supplies, and when I run out, I will not be able to go to work. If you can assist me with this payment, I will receive my supplies within 2-3 days from when the medical supply company receives the payment.
Your assistance would make it possible for me to continue working and earning enough to support myself. It will spare me the embarrassment of not being able to change my bags. This one-time help will allow me to stay current with my household bills as well as the hospital bill I am still paying off. Your help would be so greatly appreciated, and will bring me a deep feeling of relief.
