Mom Recovering from Sexual Assault: Please Help us Keep our Vehicle from Being Repossessed
My Story:
I am a divorced mother of three amazing children. My oldest son is 21 and lives in Mankato, working his way through college. My middle son is 19 and lives at home with me. He is working part-time to help out, and is also working on his associates degree. My daughter is 8 and is highly gifted and artistic. She makes me smile a million times each day. I work as a massage therapist at a chiropractic office.
I was sexually assaulted in my home by a stranger and was laid off from my job when the effects of the assault left me unable to function. I have been diagnosed with PTSD as a result of the trauma and have been in and out of the hospital undergoing treatment, as well as outpatient care. I was able to start working again a few months ago, but I have been struggling to make ends meet. I am slowly increasing my work hours, and my son is helping as much as he can by working a part-time job. However, all of our bills are behind, and we would be grateful for some help to catch up with one of our most important expenses.
I am asking for Modest Needs to help save our car from repossession. Over these last few months, family and friends gave us what support they could out of the goodness of their hearts. The added financial stress is difficult for me as I am still in extensive PTSD treatment, and just doing the best I can to get back to working full-time as soon as possible. If I lose my only transportation, I will not be able to continue the treatments I need or be able to go to work.
This funding will help bridge a big financial gap and take a huge load off while I continue my treatment and try to take on more work. It would help to restore a sense of stability and security, and keep me focused on moving forward so I can fully support my family once again. Your help would make a lasting impact on my entire family. My children have seen me at my worst since the assault, and this would allow them see me getting one step closer to my goal of recovery and being a fully-functional parent like I was before. This would truly make all the difference in the world for my family, and I in turn will help others in the very same way when I am able.
