Recently Medically Retired Combat Medic Needs Help to Keep Family's Utilities Connected

My Story:

I honorably served in the US Army for 15 years, with three combat deployments as a medic. I medically retired last year, and my family and I have been doing our best to adapt to life outside of the military. My wife and I have been married for 13 years, and we have four children. The oldest, our 15-year-old daughter, is not my child biologically, but I love her just the same! I have two other daughters, ages 13 and 9, and one son who is 11. We adopted my niece and nephew at the end of 2011 to prevent them from going to the state of Mississippi's custody. I have been doing my best to take care of my family, but it has been incredibly challenging since retiring from the military. I just want to make sure my family has everything they need.

When I retired from the military, my pay was delayed by three months, causing me to fall behind on everything. With no savings left, and a much smaller monthly income from retirement, it has been hard to catch up with our bills. We recently had some unexpected expenses come up when my son needed dental work, and when our car broke down. We were already in a bad financial spot, and now we're in a very vulnerable position where we risk losing our housing, vehicle, or utilities in our home, and I need to ask for help. We are hoping this short-term assistance will bridge the gap until my Combat Related Service Compensation starts, which should be sometime in the next two months.

I am asking for Modest Needs to please help me catch up with our electric bill, which is in danger of disconnection. I am currently doing what I can just to keep a roof over our heads, and I will not have my Combat Related Service Compensation in time to keep our utilities connected.

This funding will give us some relief and stabilize our household. Once my additional compensation begins, I will be able to manage our expenses again. I thank you for taking the time to read about our situation and consider helping my family. This would mean a great deal to all of us.
