Dear Modest Needs Team, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to your foundation Modest Needs Team/Small Change a World of Difference who helped me along my journey for seeking help from your donors to pay my delinquent rent. There have been many twists and turns and a few road blocks along the way, but with your help and assistance and the donors who was willing to reach out and help in a time of need and grief is a God sent. First I would like to thank the team who worked beyond my expectations .They was instrumental in guiding me to completing the program. They helped me accept and understand the process and how to be patient with the procedures. I have a deep admiration for the donors that took the time and interest in my situation. I have the up most respect and self-reliance for the program in wanting to get involve and helping people who are going thru Breast Cancer and illness that cause them to fall behind in their bills. Facing Eviction After Missing Work For Breast Cancer Treatment
My Story:
I am a divorce mother of four grown children, eight grandkids, and 2 great grandchildren. I was recently diagnose with Breast Cancer and had to receive chemotherapy. I currently work fulltime at a new company after having retired from where I worked for 33 years. After I retired I went through a very bad divorce where I lost my home and all my furniture, and after 4 years of retirement I was homeless living with family members. I finally got my current job and rented an apartment so I can have a place to live on my own. When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer I had to take time off of work for my treatments. I was out of work for 6 months receiving chemotherapy after my breast mastectomy and other complications. During this time I ran out of leave and income. I have recently return back to work, but need help catching up on my rent.
I am turning to Modest Needs for help with my rental payment. I have worked really hard and been through a lot to be able to have my own place again, and I am so scared that I will now lose my home. It's frightening how fast things can change and how despite having a fulltime job, the cancer diagnosis and treatment really impacted me emotionally, physically, and financially. If I am evicted I do not know where I will go.
Funding this grant will help me get current on my rent and stay in my home. It will allow me to continue focusing on working again and I can also start paying the large amount of doctor s bills that I am receiving from my surgeries and medicine expenses.
