I'm a Veteran Living in My Car. I'm Now Forced to Choose Between Repairing My Car or An Apartment!

My Story:

I'm a married veteran with disabilities and live in my vehicle. My VA benefits are enough for my basic needs each month, but I live paycheck to paycheck.

My car is pretty old and has started having issues; it needs new brakes and tires. Right now, I cannot get to my appointments because it is unsafe to drive my car, and it is making me nervous about some of my health issues. I have the opportunity to secure housing, but now I am forced to choose between repairing my vehicle or getting an apartment. I worry that I could lose my ability to pay for housing and then continue living in an unsafe vehicle.

I am humbly requesting this one-time assistance with my vehicle's repairs, so my wife and I can finally have a place to call home. This will make a long-lasting impact on my life and allow me to get to my medical appointments. Your gift will give me stability for the first time in a long time. My wife and I would have a chance to prepare should something like this happen again, and we would be incredibly grateful. Thank you so much for your support.
