I am a disabled bone cancer patient undergoing an indefinite course of chemotherapy. I am confined at home without the ability to stand for long periods of time. I researched and obtained a quote of $467.00 (including shipping) for a refurbished mobility scooter that would allow me to move about more easily at home as well as out in my neighborhood. I have a fixed income from Social Security Retirement of $963.93 (after my insurance premium of $93.50 is deducted), an amount that hardly covers my living expenses. I am requesting a Modest Needs grant due to the fact that my Medicare insurance benefit would cover such a scooter prescribed for indoor use only. I would greatly appreciate such a unit as it would allow me to run my own errands and get around in my community. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
