Lost Job: Expensive Car Repairs

My Story:

My fiancé and I have recently bought our first home and we were both working at the time. In the last week I have lost my job and our one and only vehicle is ready to die. The necessary repairs needed to get it back in working order are very expensive and we are unable to come up with the money as we are struggling just to pay our mortgage and other bills.

I am trying to find work, but there is just not much out there right now! If our car breaks down then I will definitely not be able to continue looking for work. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you!
