Disabled Woman Needs One Time Help
| Cost to fully fund this application: 306.00 Modest Needs Points
I am a single woman on SSI/DIABILITY. Obviously, I am unable to work. I have several medical conditions, which make it impossible for me to work. I am in pain every day. I also am sick most of the time! I have been hospitalized four times this year.
One of the problems that STOP me from being able to work is my colon. (THIS IS SOMEWHAT EMBARRASSING!!!!) During ONE of my hospital stays, I was diagnosed with several types of colon disorders. The doctor prescribed medications that are NOT covered by Medicaid, but that is not why I am asking for help today. I was able to buy ONE of the meds that did seem to 'help' me. Well, so I thought until the first time that I was able to evacuate my bowels in YEARS! AGAIN, THIS IS EMBARRASSING! Anyway, I flushed the toilet and it overflowed! HELP!
My landlord is charging me to pay for the water damages that were (He SAYS) incurred from my toilet overflowing. (I used to wet vac to clean this up immediately and then disinfected it.) I feel like I am being punished for FINALLY being able to function properly in 'that' department at least. I am NOW afraid to even take the meds that 'helped' me!
I cannot afford to pay this bill for my SSI/disability barely covers my NORMAL monthly expenses! I already have to go to the food pantry in order to feed myself. I spoke with legal services to find out if I was indeed liable for these charges. The lawyer that I spoke with said that not only am I liable for this unfortunate ACCIDENT, but if my landlord were to give me a bad report, I COULD LOSE MY SECTION 8! I am at my wits end! All the stress is just making me sicker!
I would like to move out of this apartment in the near future for I believe the apartment is not all that healthy for me. I believe that there is pre-existing mold and mildew in the building. Also, since my arthritis has gotten worse, I can no longer open and close the windows here. I really need to move to a place where there is better public transportation too, but I have no money or no one to help me with moving either!
My priority WAS to get out of this apartment when my lease is up in February, but like I said, 'IT'S A CONSTANT BATTLE.' If someone would please help me to remain on good standing with my landlord, I would feel much better about well, EVERYTHING!
If no one can help me, I fear homelessness. I have been there and done that due to my disabilities. I can't afford to lose my Section 8. PLEASE HELP ME PAY MY LANDLORD SO THAT I CAN GO ON WITH MY 'LIFE'!!!! (This is not living; I am in bed MOST of the time!) THANKS SO MUCH.
