Needing assistance for my rent has greatly affected me and my children, to the point of being so stressed because we have no idea how I am going to be able to come up with enough money to pay the past due portion of my rent. I am a single parent of 5 minor children (four are my own and one is my niece that I have custody of).

I attend school full-time, as well as work. I am trying to further my education so I can secure a better paying position so that I can help others instead of being the one that needs help. When my hours at work were cut in July, I looked for a second job to help, but the only thing I could find that paid okay would not allow me to work around my current schedule.

This situation is extremely hard on my children because they are at an age where they understand what is going on, and they need stability in their life. If I am not able to pay my past due portion of the rent we will be evicted and they are worried because we have nowhere to go. Because my family is so big, we can't just go live with someone else because times are hard and space is very limited.

I have managed to stay afloat thus far. I've been pushing to work as many hours at work as possible, and am due to return back to 40 hours soon. It's just I am now one month behind and will have no way to catch up with help. This rental assistance is really needed for me and my children to continue to have a place to live and not interrupt their lives too much. Thank you.

November 2, 2009 I would like to deeply sincerely thank Modestneeds.org and all the Donors who gave selflessly to help me in this great time of need for my family. I don't think no one will truly know exactly how greatful and appreciative I am of the generousity of everyone who's apart of Modestneeds.org. You all have no idea how at the end of my ropes I were in these last couple days, and I had told myself times are just too hard for everyone and because of this it is a struggle to give even just a little. And I totally understood that, and even though I wasn't sure what was going to happen, I still continued to pray and pray.
